Arkansas Hush Puppies

Super, super simple hush puppies for the buffet table.

Ingredients

1.75 cups yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1.5 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 large onion, finely chopped
5 spring onions, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

Mix all ingredients well in order given above and drop by spoonfuls into hot deep cooking oil. Fry until light golden brown all over.
