Bachelor's Button Bites

Mouth filling one bite wonders.

Ingredients

5 oz. Plain flour
2 oz. Sugar
1/2 teaspoonful Carbonate of Soda
1 oz. Butter
1 teaspoonful Cream of Tartar
6 drops Almond essence

Method

Rub the butter into the flour, stir in the sugar, carbonate of soda, and cream of tartar; mix into a stiff dough with the egg and flavouring.

Roll into small balls about the size of a marble; toss in coarse sugar, put on to a greased baking sheet, and bake from five to eight minutes at about 180c.
