Nanas Gingerbread and Molasses Cookies

A real taste from my childhood. I think this is one of those passed down recipes, and I'm glad my Nan wrote it down for me.

Ingredients

1 Cup Sugar
2 Cups Flour
Cup Shortening
Tsp. Salt
1 Egg
1 Tbsp. Ginger
Cup Molasses
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
2 Tsp. Baking Soda

Method

Preheat oven to 375*

Cream the shortening and the sugar; add the egg and molasses and mix well. Stir together all the dry ingredients, then add to the molasses mixture.

With a teaspoon, scoop out small amounts of dough, about the size of a walnut, and roll them in white sugar.

Place the cookie balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and then flatten them with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar each time.

Bake for 10 minutes in a 375 degree oven.
