Sweet Roll Dough
A sweet bread dough that can be used in a wide variety of other recipes.
1 package active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup lukewarm milk
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon salt
3-4 cups all-purpose flour
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water in large bowl. Stir in the milk, sugar, margarine, salt, egg and 2 cups of the flour. Beat until smooth.
Mix in enough remaining flour to make the dough easy to handle.
Turn the dough on to a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, for about 5 minutes.
Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up. Cover; let rise in warm place until about double the size, about 1 1/2 hours.
The Dough is ready if an indentation remains when touched.
Punch down dough. Shape, let rise and bake as directed.
